March 18, 2015:  The 4th Day in Sendai

18日、仙台会場4日目の事です。

I’m sorry for the delay in updating my blog.

I am writing about March 18, the 4th day in Sendai

作家さんたちからいただいたポストカード 、みなさんよく買ってください
ます。ポストカードなどの売り上げは、全て活動資金になりますので、
とても助かります。
だいぶ、少なくなってきました。

Many visitors purchased postcards donated by artists.

As all sales of postcards and other goods are used as a funding for activities of exhibition, it is very helpful.

We are running out of stock.

宮城県議会議員の石橋信勝さんが観にいらしてくださいました。
石橋議員は、ペット問題に真剣に向き合っている議員さんです。
この日も、随分時間をかけて、観てくださっていました。
私もたくさんお話させていただきました。心の温かい方でした。
こういった方がいてくださると、本当に心強いですね。

Mr. Nobukatsu Ishibashi, a member of the Miyagi Prefectural Assembly, visited 

to see paintings. 

He has seriously worked on pet issues.

He went around to see paintings thoroughly.

I talked a lot with him.  He was a heartwarming gentleman.

I’m encouraged by supporting such kind of person.

今、仮設住宅から、災害公営住宅に引越しをされる方が多くなって
きています。
しかし、ペット可だった仮設の数よりも、災害公営住宅の数が少ないため、
犬や猫その他の動物たちと暮らしてきた方々は、本当に困っています。
ペット可の公営住宅に入ることができない為、飼っていた猫を
仮設に残して出て行く人が多いという話を、石巻で聞きました。
仮設に残っている猫が好きな人が、置いていかれた猫たちの
お世話をされています。でも、避妊・去勢もされていないので、
猫がどんどん生まれているそうです。
いずれ、全ての方が、仮設を出ることになるでしょう。
その時、増え続けた猫たちはいったいどうなるのか・・
保健所に連れていかれて、殺処分になる可能性もあると思います。
その猫たちの命を守るため、保護活動をされている方々の負担も
また大きくなるように思います。
猫は登録制ではないため、正確な数字はわからないかもしれませんが、
犬は登録制ですから、現在仮設でどのくらいの犬が飼われているのか
判るはずです。そこから考えていけば、このような問題は起きないはず。
この問題も、取り上げていただくように、石橋議員にお願いしました。
そして・・これは全ての方へ・・。
一緒に暮らしてきた家族を、置いていかないでほしいです。
この問題は、今回のことだけではなく、日本全国どこでも起きている
問題です。
可愛いからと安易に迎えるのではなく、その命に対して責任を持てるか
どうかを考えてから、迎えていただきたいと思います。

The number of disaster victims who have moved from the temporary 

housing to the public restoration housing is increasing at present.

However, the number of the public restoration housing is less than the 

temporary housing where pets are allowed.  So people who have been 

living with dogs, cats, and other animals have gotten in trouble a lot.

I heard in Ishinomaki that many people left their cats at the temporary 

housing when they moved out because they could not live in the housing 

where pets were allowed.

Cat-lovers who are still living in the temporary housing are taking care of 

those abandoned cats.  Those cats are not altered so that the number of 

cats has been increasing.

All people will leave the temporary housing in the future.

At that time, what will happen to those increasing cats?

There will be a possibility to be euthanized at the public health center.

The burden of people who are acting for animal conservation may increase 

by saving lives of those cats.

The authority can figure out the number of pet dogs in the temporary housing 

from the registration system although it is difficult to figure out the exact 

number of pet cats because there is no registration system for cats.  

From such point of view, the issue does not occur.

I asked Mr. Ishibashi to cover its issue.

And, to everybody …

Please do not leave your family members who have been living with you

Its issue happens to anywhere in Japan as well as the issue above.

Please do not keep pets because they are cute.  Please keep pets after you

consider whether you will be able to be responsible for those lives.
