On October 23, I had a speech at an elementary school in Kyoto!

----------------------------------------

On October 23, I had a speech to the second & sixth grade students in Kyoto Bunkyo Junior College Elementary School about preciousness & equality of lives.

I woke up at 5:30 and had a breakfast to clear my head and left the hotel, then I arrived at Kyoto Bunkyo Junior College Elementary School at 8:20.

Ms. Onoda of NHK Kyoto Branch and a camera crew joined me.
They reported on today’s speech.
The cameraman on the left reported the previous exhibition in Kyoto last February
He moved from Kyoto Branch to Osaka Branch, but he came to Kyoto to work only this week by chance.
I was very happy to see him again!

40 students in the second grade entered in the classroom at 8:50.
They will listen my story for 90 minutes.  90 minutes … it’s quite long.
I put my heart on into my speech by considering words to use in order for students to listen well and to understand the important message.

There was a Q&A session at the end.
Many students raised their hand like this.
They gave me many questions and their thoughts.

A girl sincerely expressed her thought to animals.

She told her thought sincerely even there was a camera and microphone.

When I finished my speech session to the second grade students, we took 25-minutes break
Then, the sixth grade students entered in the classroom at 1045.

Most kids were living with a dog, cat, bird, a goldfish, or insect.
I told them many lives of not only human being but also all living matters were lost in the disaster.
I also told them there were many lost lives which could not be rescued because they were animals.
Children seriously considered lives and told their thoughts.

I think there are many cases that schools are used as evacuation centers.
When people evacuate, they bring all precious things.
So, I asked teachers not to categorize lives to save all lives.
Teachers nodded heartily.

At last, I told children that the thing which everybody can do it but it is the most important is “to tell”.
They told me they will tell their fathers, mothers, brothers, and friends today’s speech.
When I told, “Let’s create the world with no order for lives”, they heartily nodded.
“When I grow up, I will make the society to save animals, too”  One of the kids told me.  I was very happy to hear it.
The session for the sixth grade was finished at 12:15.

After that, a teacher and a student representing the second grade students who heard my speech gave me a nice gift.
All of the second grade students wrote me.
I was very happy.  It will be a treasure for my life.

Commemorative photo with the second grade students.  The book they are holding is “Thinking about Little Lives Lost in Great East Japan Earthquake” published by Iwate Prefecture.  The book prepared by people in Iwate was delivered to kids in Kyoto.

Commemorative photo with the sixth grade students.
I gave the book to them, too.

I greeted teachers and left the school.

Then, I moved to NHK Kyoto Branch for a meeting.
I saw a “Nanami-chan’s National Map” in the building.  Nanami-chan is a popular character in NHK.

Nanami-chan in Chiba Prefecture whether I am living in was wearing peanut.
It was cute and I liked it.

Nanami-chan in Nagoya Branch in Aichi Prefecture was wearing “shachihoko (an imaginary sea animals with the head of a tiger and the body of a fish)”.

It is Nanami-chan in Kyoto Branch.
