Sunday, December 15, 2013
December 9:  I visited Hanazono Elementary School

--------------------------------------

On December 9, I visited Hanazono Elementary School.
I gave a “lesson on life” to the sixth grade students from 9:40 to 10:25.
When the exhibition was held in NHK Kyoto Branch in the end of last month, a teacher visited there and I gave him a leaflet and talked with him.  Then, the speech was realized.

JR Hanazono Station.
I could go there without any transfer.

Hanazono Elementary School.
As I could not take photos a lot, many trees and flowers were growing in school.
“Because it is Hanazono (= flower garden) Elementary School.” The principal told me.

http://cms.edu.city.kyoto.jp/weblog/index.php?id=111201

The photo of the class.
I told them why I started to hold the exhibition and what I wanted to tell by the exhibition.
All children and teachers listened my story seriously.
The story about the class was introduced in the home page of the school as follows (you can see it at the bottom of the page):
http://cms.edu.city.kyoto.jp/weblog/index.php?id=111201

I also told them the importance of “knowing”.
When I finished the speech, I heard a happy words from a teacher.

“Knowing is very important.  If you don’t know, you can’t think of what you can do.  We, Hanazono Elementary School, want to provide a room for animals when we need to evacuate.”

The teacher said so in front of children.  I was very happy.
I thought there were many things to change when people know .

Ministry of Environment established the guideline for the evacuation with pets last August.
It was established at last.  It was also a big step.
But so many people don’t know about it.

Lives are no different even the appearance is different.
Lives to save and not to save … “All lives shall be saved.” I think we start from it rather than classifying lives to save.

December 8:  I visited Doshisha University in Kyoto

------------------------------------------

On Sunday, December 8, I visited Kyoto again.
I was invited to a workshop of students.
Students were from Doshisha Univ., Ritsumeikan Univ. and Kyoto Univ., etc., and they were working on animal protection regularly.
The site was Student Union Building in Shinmachi Campus of Doshisha University.

Shinmachi Campus of Doshisha University.

There were words of Mr. Joe Neesima, a founder, “Each and every student must be valued.”

I displayed 7 reproduction paintings in the room where workshop was held.

I discussed with Mr. Atsushi Hosokawa, attorney.

The first session started at 13:30.  I gave a speech about the importance of lives, equality of lives, and keeping informed through the exhibition.
After having a speech in one hour, everybody had a discussion about the evacuation with pets.

The second session started at 15:00.  Mr. Hosokawa gave a speech about the amendment of New Animal Law and what we can do for animals from a viewpoint of law.
There were things that I didn’t know and I learned a lot.

Photo of discussion.
Everybody seriously thought and gave opinions.

It was finished at 16:40.
We all took a commemorative photo.

After that, I joined a social gathering.
We had many things to talk.

They were still 20’s young guys and they were amazingly serious to think about the future of Japan.
I was relieved to know it.

There were many generations and positions.  However, if they aim to the same goal and do what they can do, the world will surely change in a positive way.  I really felt it.

Closing of the Exhibition of Reproduction Paintings at NHK Kyoto Branch

-------------------------------------------

On Friday, November 29, it was the last day.
It was very clear sky.

As Ms. Onoda and Mr. Ami, newscasters of NHK, introduced the exhibition of reproduction paintings in NHK’s news program “Kyo-ichinichi”, the largest number of people visited us during the period because they noticed it was the last day.

It closed at 16:00.
We took out paintings after that but I forgot to take photos …
Volunteers came to help me and 5 people worked for take-out (Mr. Sugimoto & Mr. Aoishi from ALEC in Aridagawa Town, Wakayama, N-san who helped me in the previous exhibition in Kyoto, H-san who was from Hyogo and planning to hold the exhibition of reproduction paintings in Amagasaki at the end of January 2014 and me).

Thank you very much for all.
And thank you so much, persons in NHK Kyoto Branch.

I was very sad to close the exhibition this time.
