June 11, 2012:  Installation


朝、１０：００から搬入がはじまりました。
「ちいさな駅美術館」はJR藤並駅の２階にあります。
有田川町教育委員会の杉本さん、青石さん、私の３人で展示しました。

Installation started at 10AM.
Ponte del Sogno, Art Museum in Small Station, was located on the 2nd Floor of JR Fujinami Station.
Sugimoto-san and Aoishi-san both from School Board of Aridagawa Town and I worked on installation.

ギャラリーの周りは図書館になっています。
「震災で消えたちいさな命展」に参加されている
作家さんの絵本がたくさん並べてありました。
とってもかわいい、木の香りがするギャラリーです。

There was a library around the gallery.
Many picture books painted by artists who were participating in the exhibition of Precious Little Lives Lost in the Earthquake were displayed.
It was a pretty gallery with smell of wood.

展示終了！
ここは第一会場です。
少し離れたところに、第２会場があります。
第一会場には、震災で亡くなった動物たちの絵が、
第二会場には、海外の作家さんに描いていただいた、
「みんな同じ大切な命」の絵が展示されています。

Installation was completed.
Here was the 1st site.
The 2nd site was located in a short distance away.
The paintings of pets who passed away in the earthquake were displayed at the 1st site.
The paintings representing “Precious lives are all equal” drawn by foreign artists were displayed at the 2nd site.

左が青石さん、右が杉本さん。
絵本に対する思い、子供たちに対する熱い思いのある、
本当に本当に、良い方です。
私はこのお二人にお会いできて、本当によかったです。

They were very, very nice persons who were passionate about picture books and children.
I was so happy to meet them.

展示終了し、その後、青石さんと杉本さんに
有田川町の観光に連れて行ってもらいました。

After installation, both Aoishi-san and Sugimoto-san took me to sightseeing in Aridagawa Town.


ここは、「あらぎ島」と呼ばれているとても美しい棚田です。
日本の棚田100選にも選ばれました。
手前に咲いていたアジサイもきれいでした。

It was very beautiful terraced rice paddies called Aragijima.
It was selected as one of the 100 best terraced rice paddies.
Blooming hydrangea in the foreground was also beautiful.

あたりは見渡す限り、山です。山のエネルギーを感じます。

There were mountains as far as I could see.
I felt energy from mountains.

ここは、茅葺き屋根の古いお家です。
ここで宿泊もできるそです。
中に入れていただきましたが、とても広いです。
泊まってみたくなりました。

It was an old house with steep raftered roofs.
I heard we were able to stay over there.
I wanted to do so.

かわいい花が咲いていました。

Pretty flowers were blooming.

有田川。

有田川に真っ赤な長いつり橋がかかっていました。

There was a red suspension bridge across Arida River.

楽しそうだったので渡ってみることにしました。
橋の底は、下が丸見えです。
高所恐怖症の人は、無理かもしれません。

As it looked like fun, I tried to cross the bridge.
The floorboard was see-through.
I thought people who have acrophobia could not cross it.

次につれていっていただいたのは、宝くじが当たるという神社です。
「宝来宝来神社」と書いて「ホギホギ神社」といいます。

Then, they took me to a shrine where gives worshipers luck of lottery.
The name of shrine was Hogi Hogi Shrine.

奥にある、この石に触ってお願いすると宝くじが当たります。
両手を石に当て、心の中で3回「ホギホギホギ」と唱えるそうです。

People will win a lottery by touching the stone located behind and wishing.
People need to touch the stone by both hands and chant “Hogi Hogi Hogi” 3 times in your heart 

こんな祈祷の仕方がありました。右に「ホギホギ」左に「ホギホギ」・・・。

There was an instruction to chant.
“Hogi Hogi” to the right, and “Hogi Hogi” to the left …

その後、近くにあった「おみくじ」を引いてみることにしました。
（写真撮り忘れました・・）
100円を入れると、赤い箱の中から、自然におみくじが
1枚出てくるしくみになっています・・・が・・・・出てこない！！！
この時点で、金運なし！！と言われているようなもの・・。
その時に杉本さんがおみくじの入った赤い箱を揺さぶりました。
そしたら、1枚ポロリ・・。
・・とりあえずよかったです。中吉でしたが、書いてある内容はとても
うれしい内容でした。よかったです・・。
知っていますか？良い結果のおみくじは、持ち帰ったほうがいいそうです。
悪い結果がでたときは、神社におみくじを結んでいくそうです。
今回のおみくじは、ちゃんと持ち帰りました。

After that, I drew sacred lots.
(I forgot to take a photo.)
When I put in 100 Yen, a piece of per for sacred lots supposed to be come out from a red box, however, it didn’t!
At the time, it seemed I was not lucky with money.
Sugimoto-san shook the red box which were sacred lots inside.
Then a piece of paper came out …
Anyway, it was ok.  Although it was “average good-luck”, the detail written on the paper was very good.
Do you know the good-luck sacred lots shall be brought back home.
When you get the bad-luck one, the paper shall be tied to a tree branch of shrine.
I brought the lots back home.


その後、鷲ヶ岳の頂上にいきました。風力発電の風車がたくさんありました。

After that, we went to the top of Washigamine Mountain.
There were many windmills for wind electricity.

大きな風を切る音がしていました。
この風車を見ると、なんだかワクワクした気持ちになるのは
私だけでしょうか・・。

There was a big sound of windmill.
I get excited to see the windmill.
Am I the only one feeling this way?

有田川町はとっても素敵なところです。
私は大好きになりました。
みなさんも是非、一度、訪れてみてください。
温泉もあります、みかんが最高においしい町です。

Aridagawa Town was very nice place and I loved there.
Please visit there once.
It has hot springs and very delicious mandarin or

Traveling to Wakayama!



６月１２日から、和歌山県有田町「ちいさな駅美術館」で
開催するため、出発しました。
今回は、ANAのマイレーシがたまったので、
飛行機で行くことにしました。

I traveled to Arida City, Wakayama Prefecture to hold the exhibition at Ponte del Sogno, Art Museum in Small Station, from June 12.
As I accumulated enough air miles in ANA, I took a plane to travel.


羽田空港から関西空港に向かいます。

I flied from Haneda Airport to Kansai Airport.

バスでゲートまで行きます。

I boarded a bus for a boarding gate.

バスが来てしばらく乗っていると、見えてきました。
ANAの飛行機・・・と思いきや・・

After a period of time, I could see the plane.
Here is ANA’s plane … but …

通過しました。？？？と思い、進む先を見たら、
真っ黒い悪そうな雰囲気の飛行機を発見。

The bus didn’t stop.  I was wondering why and looked ahead.
I found the black, “gangster looking” airplane.

ANAではなく、スターフライヤーズという飛行機でした。
共同運航だったようです。初めて見る飛行機でした。
中に入ると、狭くてびっくりしました。しかも、中も真っ黒・・。

It was an airplane of Starflyer, not ANA.
It was a code-sharing flight.
It was the first time to see the plane.
I was surprised at how small the inside was.  The interior was also black …

雲がとなりに広がっていました。
こういうのを見ると、雲の上に何かいないかな・・と、いつも思います。

There were clouds next to me.
When I see such landscape, I always think if there is something on clouds.

関西空港に無事到着。

I arrived safely at Kansai Airport.

そして、次はバスで和歌山駅に向かいます。

Then I took a bus for Wakayama Station.

空港でパンを買い、バスの中で食べました。
「おいもちゃん」というタイトルのパンでした。
あめちゃんとか言うように、なんだか、関西ぽいネーミングです。

I bought bread at the airport to eat in the bus.
Its name was “Oimo-chan”.
It sounds like Kansai dialect as they say “Ame-chan (candy)”.

和歌山駅に到着しました。
関西空港から和歌山駅まで、４０分です。
ここから、藤並という駅に行きます。

I arrived at Wakayama Station.
It took 40 minutes from Kansai Airport to Wakayama Station
Then I traveled from Wakayama Station to Fujinami Station.

藤並駅に到着しました。
木の作りで、駅が木のいい匂いがしました。

I arrived at Fujinami Station.
It was a wooden-construction with smell of wood.

June 2:  Additional Exhibition in Tagajo


今日は、多賀城市文化センター、小ホールホワイエで、
１日のみの展覧会を開催しました。

今日は１日で、搬入、展示、搬出をしなくてはなりません。
かなり、ハードです。

仙台駅から多賀城駅に向かいます。
多賀城駅は、仙台駅から仙石線に乗り、９つ目の駅です。

The one-day exhibition was held at “Foyer”, the small hall in Tagajo City Cultural Center today.

It was very hard for me because we had to install, display and carry out paintings in a day.

I traveled from Sendai Station to Tagajo.
Tagajo Station was the 9th station from Sendai Station by Senseki Line.

多賀城駅。Tagajo Station

駅から歩いて１０分、会場の文化センターです。
２ヶ月前も来たところです。

It took 10 minutes on foot from the station to City Cultural Center where I visited 2 months ago.

ここが小ホールホワイエです。結構広いです。
ここのスペースで、「震災で消えた小さな命展」と
石巻アニマルクラブ主催「 余儀なき別れの後で」の展示と、
宍戸大裕監督ドキュメンタリー映画「犬と猫と人間と２」の
上映予告がありました。

It was “Foyer”, the small hall.
It was pretty large.
There were notices of the exhibition of “Precious Little Lives Lost in the Earthquake” and ”After Unexpected Good-bye” hosted by Ishinomaki Animal Club and also the next show of the documentary movie “Dogs, Cats and Human 2” directed by Daisuke Shishido

「震災で消えた小さな命展」は、奥の展示スペースをいただきました。
搬入の様子。
搬入は９：００から２時間半で終わらさねばなりません。

We were given the space in the back.

We had to complete installation for 2.5 hours from 9AM.

みなさん、手際がいいです。We did good work.

約２時間で搬入が終わりました。本当に、早かったです。

We could complete installation in 2 hours.  It was amazingly fast.

ボランティアさんたちの紹介です。
搬入は６名＋実行委員会からのお手伝いさん数名でした。
今回は、東京展でお手伝いしてくださった方が２名、
東京から新幹線で日帰りで来てくださいました。
石巻展でお手伝いしてくださった方１名と、前回の多賀城展のときに
お手伝いしてくださった方１名は、台湾展にも来てくださった方です。

Let me introduce volunteers.
There were 6 volunteers plus a few staffs from the executive committee for installation.
2 volunteers who also helped me at the exhibition in Tokyo took a day trip by Shinkansen.
2 other volunteers who helped me at the exhibition in Ishinomaki and at the previous one in Tagajo visited the exhibition in Taiwan, too.

搬出のお手伝いをしてくださった方々です。
女性２名は、前回の多賀城展のときにもお手伝いしてくださりました。
本当に、感謝です。

They helped me to carry out.
2 ladies also helped me at the previous exhibition in Tagajo.
Thank you so much.

展示会場にあった、フジコさんの言葉。

開場しました。
１４：００から始まる、フジコ・ヘミングさんのコンサートのお客さんが
続々とやってきました。

The door opened.
Many audience of the concert starring Ms. Fujiko Hemming starting at 14:00 appeared.

石巻アニマルクラブ主催「 余儀なき別れの後で」の展示。

The exhibition of “After Unexpected Good-bye” hosted by Ishinomaki Animal Club.

「震災で消えた小さな命展」の展示。ものすごい人です。

The exhibition of “Precious Little Lives Lost in the Earthquake”.
There were so many visitors.

展示開場に椅子が数個ありました。
多賀城文化センターは、震災時、避難所になっていた場所です。
そのときに寄付されたのでしょうか・・。

There were several chairs at the exhibition site.
Tagajo City Cultural Center was used as an evacuation center at the time of earthquake.
Those chairs may be donated at that time…

椅子をよく見ると、すべての椅子に何かついています。
「がんばれ東北」とあり、飛騨高山の会社からの寄付のようです。

When I looked closer at the chair, I found something.
There was a message “Don’t give up, Tohoku” and it seems to be donated by the company in Hida-takayama.

裏返していると・・一脚一脚に、手書きの違うメッセージが書いてありました。
すごいです・・。思いもこもった椅子です。

On the back of the card, there was a handwritten different message for each chair.
It was wonderful… they were donated with deep feeling.

実は私は、フジコさんファンの一人です。
チケットを予約していたので、コンサートを聴きに中に入りました。
私の席は、２９列目でした。

In fact, I am one of Fujiko-san’s fans.
As I reserved a seat, I entered the hall for the concert.
I sat the seat in 29th rows.

これから、フジコさんが弾くピアノ。

The piano which Fujiko-san will play.

フジコさんのピアノは、すばらしかったです。
なんというのでしょう・・本当にフジコさんの弾くピアノの音は、
心の音です。想いが音となって開場に広がりました。
本当にすばらしくて、最後に弾かれた、ショパンの遺作、夜曲は、
涙がでました。

Her piano performance was brilliant.
How can I say…?  Her piano sound is the sound of spirit.  Her thought transformed into piano sound and spread to the hall.
Her performance was so wonderful and I was tearing when I listened the last number, Requiem, the last work of Mozart.


その後・・フジコさんにお会いできました！
フジコさん、演奏終了後、すぐに新幹線で移動とのことで
時間があまりなく、面会の人数も制限されたのですが、実行委員会の
佐藤さんのご協力で、楽屋に行くことができました。
フジコさんに、「震災で消えた小さな命展」のことを、しっかりとお伝えしました。
本当は会場で絵を見ていただきたかったのですが、時間がないので、
お手紙と、台湾で作っていただいた小さな命展の作品集などをお渡ししました。
ちゃんと、見ていただけるとのことでした。

After the concert, I was able to meet Fujiko-san!
As she had to travel to the next site by Shinkansen right after the concert, she did not have time to meet many people.  However, Mr. Sato of executive committee arranged to meet her at her dressing room.
I surely introduced the exhibition of “Precious Little Lives Lost in the Earthquake” to Fujiko-san.
I wanted her to see paintings at the site but unfortunately she did not have enough time to do so.  Therefore, I gave her a letter and portfolio printed in Taiwan.
She told me she will read and see them.

６月１日、仙台に向かいます！

June 1:  I will travel to Sendai


６月になりましたね。
毎日が、本当に早く過ぎていきます。

Here it is June.
How time flies.

２日の多賀城文化センターの追加展のため、
今日から仙台に３日間宿泊します。

I will stay in Sendai for 3 days for the additional exhibition at Tagajo City Cultural Center on June 2.

新宿発の高速バスで、仙台に向かいました。
今日はいい天気でした。
新宿のビルは高いです・・。

I took a highway express bus from Shinjuku to Sendai.
It was very nice weather.
There were high-rise buildings in Shinjuku.

１２：３０出発です。約５時間で仙台に着きます。

The bus departed at 12:30 and it took about 5 hours to Sendai.

途中、のどかな風景が広がります。遠くに山がみえます。なんだか、ホッとします。

On the way to Sendai, there was a peaceful scene.
I could see the mountain in the distance.  I felt comfortable when I saw it.

１７：４０、仙台に到着しました。これは、JR仙台駅。

The bus arrived in Sendai at 17:40.   It was JR Sendai Station.

１９：００から、明日からお世話になる、
フジコ・ヘミングチャリティーコンサートの実行委員会代表の
佐藤さんとお会いし、打ち合わせをしました。
明日は多賀城市文化センター大ホールで、フジコさんのコンサートがあります。
小さな命展は、その横の小ホールホワイエで開催します。
フジコ・ヘミングさんは、動物愛護の意識のとても高いことでも
有名です。昔からたくさんの猫たちの保護活動をしている方です。
チラシには「震災できずついたすべてのひと、どうぶつたちに」
と書いてありました。

At 19:00, I had a meeting with Mr. Sato, representative of executive committee of Charity Concert starring Ms. Fujiko Hemming.
There will be a concert starring Ms. Fujiko Hemming tomorrow at the grand hall of Tagajo City Cultural Center.
The exhibition of “Precious Little Lives Lost in the Earthquake” will be held at “Foyer”, the small hall beside the grand hall.
She is well known as a person who is highly conscious of animal welfare.  She has been protecting many stray cats.
There was a sentence “for all people and animals hurt from the disaster” in the flyer of the concert.


フジコさんのコンサートにいらした方が、「震災で消えた小さな命展」
にも足を運んでくれたらうれしいです。

I will be more than happy that the audience of her concert will visit our exhibition, too.
