I’m back from Niigata

9月15日、新潟動物ネットワーク（ＮＤＮ）の方打ち合わせをしてきました。
11月4日、「NDNフェスティバル2013　震災と動物を考える」という
イベントがあり、命展も参加させていただくことになりました。

I went to a meeting with staffs of Niigata Dobutsu (=animals) Network (NDN) on September 15.

On November 4, an event “NDN Festival 2013 – Thinking about the Disaster and Animals” will be held and we will be able to join the event.

９：３０に新潟動物ネットワーク（ＮＤＮ）の方と待ち合わせをし、
まずは展示させていただく会場を見せていただきました。

I met a staff of NDN at 9:30 and toured the site where the exhibition will be held.

「新潟日報 メディアシップ」という新しいビルです。

It was a new building called “Niigata Nippo Media Ship”.

２Ｆの「日報ホール」が会場となります。

The exhibition will be held at “Nippo Hall” on 2F.

 

会場のエントランスが展示スペースとなります。
この奥は映画館です。
当日は「犬と猫と人間と2」を上映するそうです。

Paintings will be displayed at the entrance of the hall.

The back of the room is a movie theater.

The movie “Dogs, Cats, and Human Part 2” will be shown during the event.

 

会場を見せていただき、展示方法などの打ち合わせの後、
新潟日報社（新聞社です）に行き、取材を受けてきました。
記者の方も、犬と一緒に暮らせていらっしゃるそうです。
とても丁寧に、約2時間分も取材してくださいました。

After I finished the tour of the site and the meeting to confirm how to display paintings, I went to Niigata Nippo (Newspaper Company) to get an interview.

The reporter told he is living with a dog, too.

He interviewed thoroughly for 2 hours.

 

新潟日報社の取材のあとは、読売新聞社の方と待ち合わせし、
取材を受けました。
読売新聞の記者さんも、とても熱心な方でした。
ペット同行避難のことを、ずっと追いつづけていらっしゃる方でした。
この方とも、1時間30分お話させていただきました。

新潟県は、動物愛護の活動などが進んでいる県で、
ペット同行避難についても、どこよりもいち早く形にしたそうです。
10匹以上の動物を飼育する場合には、届出が必要とされることなど、
新潟市独自の動物愛護条例も制定され、飼い主、行政、一般の市民
様々な立場でペットについての責任が明記されています。

また、素晴らしい方々と知り合うことができて、嬉しかったです。

After the interview in Niigata Nippo, I met a reporter of Yomiuri Shimbun to get an interview.

He was also dedicated.

He had been reporting the evacuation with pets.

I was interviewed for 1.5 hours.

Niigata is a forward-thinking prefecture for activities of animal protection and the evacuation with pets had been established faster than anybody.

For example, when a person owns more than 10 animals, he/she needs to register based on the regulation of animal protection which was originally settled by Niigata City.  The regulation subscribes the responsibility of various positions such as pet owners, local government, and general citizens for pets.

次はもう少し、ゆっくり滞在したいと思います。
